MOAA of BC Newsletter Publication

Message From The Editor

Sabrina Kang

It is with great honor that I have accepted my role as Newsletter Editor. Sylvia May's shoes are definitely large ones to fill; however, in preparation of this edition, I have come to realize the importance and necessity of Communications as a networking and exchange tool for MOAs in BC. So even though I admit to moments of regret of taking on such a large task as this, I am also humbled by my role.

I would like to welcome you all to this edition of Communications (FALL 2009) and also warmly invite you all to be a part of all future editions. This is your Newsletter! MOAs are part of a vast professional body of well educated citizens. They play a key vital role in each doctor's office. They must be heard and their concerns must be addressed. I would like to propose that all MOAs bring forward any challenges/successes they have in their professional careers and we will address them in future publications. Remember, this is your newsletter and we want to hear your concerns and how we can support you.

We will start a new coloum called "MOA TALK" where we address issues/concerns and success stories. As Newsletter Editor, I also take on the responsibility of personally answering all your letters and emails to the best of my ability. As an Association, we can problem solve and help each other become stronger and more productive members. In turn, this will have a positive effect on our lives outside of work and on our beings in general.

Increasing our support network will additionally allow the MOA Association to grow and spread.

So, as we hit flu season and gear up for the upcoming year, I challenge you to write/email me indicating how you feel about your job as an MOA. Are you proud of what you do? Do you enjoy your job? Is it too stressfu? Do you feel your concerns are addressed? What issues are unresolved for you in your work life? Please send your responses to: moacommunications@gmail.com or call me at 604-789-8362 before the next Communications is published in February 2010. As our President, Heather Geerdink stated in her message, "Let's harness the energy within our Association and encourage one another into action".

I want to take this opportunity to thank Sylvia May for her many years of dedication to the task of Newsletter Editor and for all her warmth and support as I took on this new role. I would also like to thank Philips Lifeline, QuitNow, Optimed Software and BC Biomedical Laboratories for advertising in this newsletter as it supports publication of this issue.

I look forward to hearing from the MOAA members and getting to know you all on a more personal and professional level.
